A group of students from the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU), who study at the Faculty of Energy, completed a pre-graduate internship at the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R.E. Alekseev (NNSTU). Both universities are active members of the regional STAR-NET network and both universities have long-standing partnerships.

The Department of Atomic and Thermal Power Plants of the Institute of Nuclear Energy and Technical Physics n.a. F.M. Mitenkov provided a base for internship from its research fund.

Working sessions were held at the sites of the research laboratories “Reactor Hydrodynamics” and “Steam Generating systems”. Here, students from Minsk, under the guidance of Andrei Burov, senior lecturer at BNTU, studied modern approaches to designing NPP power equipment and predicting the effects of thermal pulsations in nuclear power plant equipment elements, gained experience working on experimental high-temperature circulation stands with lead and lead-bismuth coolants, and studied engineering design programs.

In addition, during the internship, the students got acquainted with the sights of the city, visited the Atomic Energy Information Center and the historical and patriotic center of the university.

BNTU became the first Belarusian university with which NNSTU signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at training personnel for the nuclear power industry of Belarus, which provides for combining scientific potentials in the field of fundamental and applied research. Over the years of partnership with colleagues from Belarus, a regular exchange of student groups, scientific and teaching staff has been established for training at the Institute of Nuclear Energy and Technical Physics n.a. F.M.Mitenkov.

NNSTU and BNTU have been co-organizers of the Forum of Universities of Engineering and Technology of the Union State of Russia and Belarus for many years, where young scientists can present their works and discuss ideas with colleagues. Currently, the NNSTU n.a. R.E. Alekseev has nine partner universities in the Republic of Belarus.
