The first HACKATHOM (hackathon that oriented to solving problems in the nuclear power ) was held on 28 – 29 February 2014 in Minsk, Belarus, at the National Youth Technopark.
The purpose of the event was to enhance co-operation with the State corporation Rosatom in the field human resources development for nuclear power. The programme and the scenario were developed by the Rosatom and the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University. The national co-ordinator of the event in Belarus was the Belarusian State University.
The topics of the assignments were in the mathematical modeling of the heat and mass transfer in power units. To solve these problems the participants were proposed, in particular, to use the programming code REPEAT developed by the stock of companies JET (Rosatom).
13 teams of 5 – 6 students participated in the event representing the following universities: Belarusian State University (Faculties of Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics and Informatics, Radiophysics and Computer Technologies, Military, and International Sakharov Environmental Institute of BSU), Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Belarusian National Technical University, Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU), Homel State University named after F. Skaryna.
The team of the 5-year students of the Faculty of Physics of BSU studying at the specialty “Nuclear Physics and Technologies”, Kiryl Kalchuk, Philipp Misiyuk, Dzmitry Pretskayla, Daniil Dorogokupets and Ilya Lahmankov became the winners of the HACKATHOM.
The second place won the team of the BSTU and the third one – the team the Military Faculty of BSU.
