The second General Assembly of Regional Network for Education and Training in Nuclear Technology (STAR-NET) was held from 4 to 6 October 2016 in Moscow and hosted by the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Technologies of National Reserch Nuclear University MEPhI.
More then 20 participants from 10 universities-members discussed the results of the first year activities and agreed on the main items for the next year plan.
The STAR-NET President, Rector of MEPhI, Professor Mikhail Strikhanov in his speech highly evaluated the STAR-NET achievements of the first year and set a task of creation of the common educational space to improve a quality of nuclear education. For the year STAR-NET signed agreements and started fruitful cooperation with IAEA, WNU (World Nuclear University), with the coalition of existing regional networks of nuclear education, ENEN, ANENT, LANENT, with the Nuclear Knowledge Management Institute (Vienna, Austria) and other organisations.
Among the most important tasks, set at the Assembly, there are:
• STAR-NET scientific-methodological conference;
• Educational online platform;
• Research projects with the participation of students and students’ fellowship;
• Common system of professional development for university teachers;
• Exchange of research fellows, post-graduate students, and PhDs;
• Regulation on joint usage of unique research-scientific equipment in education (research nuclear reactors, accelerators, assemblies etc.);
• Joint educational Master’s degree programs.
