The First International Summer School on Engineering Computer Modeling held in the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI by the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Technologies (INPT) under the supervision of Dr G.V. Tikhomirov was successfully completed. The School was held in English from 4 to 15 July 2016 with support of the European Nuclear Education Network (ENEN) and Regional Network for Education and Training in Nuclear Technology (STAR-NET).
For two weeks 13 students from Belarus, the Czech Republic, Italy, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Vietnam attended specialized lectures and conducted practical tasks on mathematical modelling of physical processes with the usage of Russian program codes MCU, FlowVision and Fidesys programs.
As Dr Georgiy Tikhomirov, the school supervisor said, the participants faced a difficult, multiphysical task – they needed to use all codes to solve one task. – “To tell the truth, no one has solved the task, but everyone has tried to complete. All students have started to move in the right direction. And we hope that they will complete their tasks at home, maybe using other codes. We are sure the school was valuable for everyone”.
“We gained a priceless experience. The questionnaire survey showed that students liked the school. Some disadvantages were pointed out – and we try to overcome them next year. We do hope that the second school to be conducted next year be even better and more interesting!” – added Dr Tikhomorov.
