The Internship on International Approaches in Development and Safe Use of Nuclear Energy was held in Vienna, Austria from 13 to 22 June 2016 for Belarusian students from Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) and Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU).
The Internship Programme was jointly conducted by the Regional Network for Education and Training in Nuclear Technology (STAR-NET) and Nuclear Knowledge Management Institute (NKMI) with a support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)/Nuclear Knowledge Management Section within the Belarusian National Programme “Education and Youth Policy – for the period 2016–2020” aiming the development of workforce for the first NPP in the country.
During 10 days the students attended a specialized sessions and performed the practical tasks on key topics of nuclear power development: the role of international cooperation in the development and safe use of nuclear energy, IAEA nuclear safety standards, establishment of a national nuclear infrastructure for the first NPP, information systems and knowledge management in the nuclear industry organizations, using 3D modeling technologies and virtual realities in the nuclear power industry, using the nuclear research reactors and others. Technical tours to the Atominstitute research reactor located in Vienna and to the IAEA Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) were also included in the programme.
